With the move towards digital ID verification for DBS and UK RTW checks, the employment screening sector is evolving. We’ve partnered with Yoti – read on to find out more.
April 2022.
With effect 06 April 2022, UK employers will be able to use certified Identification Document Validation Technology [IDVT] service providers to conduct digital identity checks, to complete their right to work checks and gain the statutory excuse.
These changes are aligned to the Disclosure and Barring Service [DBS] Identity Trust Scheme. The DBS Identity Trust Scheme enables digital identity checking within their pre-employment criminal disclosure checking process.
It won’t be compulsory to use an IDVT service provider – you can carry on with manual right to work checks. But it’s important you’re aware the adjusted remote right to work checks model – introduced on a temporary basis in response to the pandemic – will come to an end on 30 September 2022. After this, you’ll have to return to conducting right to work checks in person, if you don’t have an IDVT service provider in place.
